The serpent column that traveled from Delphi has witnessed various epochs of Istanbul's history since 324 BC. Similarly, calcite has meandered through different layers of Istanbul and has a monumental collection of narratives engraved in its materiality. This ubiquitous mineral has found many forms and functions throughout Istanbul at different points in history. Ongoing Centuries of Meanderings Around the Serpent Column from Delphi tells a story of change and transformation through the genealogy of the calcite mineral.
